An Introduction...
Welcome to the official online home of the Old Dominion Barn Dance! As Virginia’s oldest country music tradition, here you will find information regarding shows, performers and the history of the legendary country music show.
Following its original run from 1946 to 1957, the Barn Dance enjoyed several revivals throughout the years, one in 1973 and another in 1991. Neither revival sustained for more than a few months, but in 2015 organizers felt it was the perfect time to reintroduce audiences to the show that once rivaled the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Here you can learn about its past, present and future, as well as the country music stars of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
So sit back, relax and take in some of the magic of a Virginia tradition, and entertainment like you’ll find nowhere else around. We’re proud that it’s back, and excited to be bringing you a wholesome, good old fashioned country & bluegrass music variety show.
See ya at the Barn Dance!
